How to learn for CCNP …
A: Study the exam objectives. Its that simple. Take each objective and research different authors perspective on the subject. Don’t study what the abwser will be to the question. Ask “WHY” something works..
B: Design Guides. Yes, I know they’re dated. But they still hold relevant material. I reference these often. Read them!
C: Config Guides. Read, dont reference the config guides. These guides are the “how to” .
D: CWNP. The guys at CWNP (includes Jerome) have GREAT material on basic wifi to advance packet analysis. Specific to IAUWS, the CWSP is a great book and exam to prep for IAUWS.
E: Cisco Press . While I agree the books for the CCNP are reference material based, they are worth the 20 dollars. They will get you primed to each subject.
D: Always study/reference one level up. If you’re going for CCNP level cert, you should also be referencing material on the CCIE level as well. Full perspective.
E: Visit blogs on specific subjects / objectives.
F: Reach out to the community. Cisco CSC or Cisco Learning Network
G: Get an exam buddy. This doesnt mean CHEAT or break NDA. Losers like this will get found out when interviewing or when the network goes down and everyone looks at you to fix it and you cant. . You sit down with me puttygen , you better know the EAP handshakes and how the 4 way handshake works and is created using seeding matrial. Also know which handshake relates to unicast keys and broadcast keys. Yes, you need to be at this level if you’re a professional.
H: Create your own study guide. As you go through the material turn your notes into a study guide.
I: Flash Cards. I use mental case, love it!
